The star cast of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah who
had been invited for a garba event in the city were stuck at the city airport
after no official from the event management firm that invited the cast, came to
receive them. According to the actors, Spastic, a city-based event management
company, had roped in the unit of the famous daily soap for a promotional
programme on Sunday evening at Prasang party plot near S G Highway.
The actors landed in the city at 7 pm. “We arrived here at 7 pm and waited for quite some time. We tried to contact the event management firm when no one came to receive us. But to no avail. After much effort, we found out the phone number of the venue. When we called them, we got to know that there was no such garba event on Sunday there. This was shocking. The person at the venue confirmed that the event was called off,” said Gurucharan Singh who plays the character of Roshan Singh Sodhi in the serial.

The cast waited for more than two hours at the airport
before they were put up at a hotel by an acquaintance. When Mirror called Mohit
Agarwal, owner of the firm, said: “One of my employees is in hospital because
of which the event had to be cancelled.” However, when asked about the hospital
where his staffer was admitted, Agarwal disconnected the phone. An employee of
the firm however refuted Agarwal’s claim and said that none of his colleagues
is in hospital. Neeraj Ruparel, who mediated on behalf of the firm to bring the
cast, said: “I had paid advance to the actors for the promotional event.
But now I have learnt about cash crunch in the firm following which the owners cancelled the event. I tried to contact them but none of the organisers took my call. The firm owners have cheated on me.” According to Rupael, “Mohit Agarwal, Kandarp Bhatt, Pratik Shah, Arjun Chavda and Sagar Thhakar are partners in the company.” When contacted, Pratik Shah said: “I am not a partner in the firm. My one of partner and he has fallen ill because of which the event was cancelled.” The cast who came here are Bagha, Natu Kaka, Abdul and Madhuri.
