L D student gets top salary of Rs 8.5 lakh

Future First offered highest package which was double that of last year. Of the 375 students who were eligible for offers, 225 candidates were placed

Students of L D Engineering College are on a high. The 2010 final placements have given them reason to smile. Out of 375 eligible students, 225 students have already been placed and the highest salary offered this year is double that of last year. The placement process that started in November will continue till March 15.
Corporate giants like Tata Motors, L&T, Reliance Industries, Tata Power, Essar, TCS, Mahindra & Mahindra, General Motors, Future First are among the 30 companies that have visited the campus. Fifteen others like Volvo trucks, Gujarat Gas, Ceat Ltd, Godrej, Saint Gobain are expected to visit the campus soon.
Future First offered the highest package of Rs 8.5 lakh to a student. This is almost double compared to last year’s highest salary offered. The average package offered so far is around Rs 3 lakh per annum.
Telcon, a Tata-Hitachi joint venture, has offered the second highest salary of Rs 7 lakh per annum so far. Tata Motors and Reliance Industries also offered salaries of Rs 5.25 lakh and Rs 5.1 lakh per annum respectively. This year, IT, mechanical and software engineering sectors dominated the scene. This time, companies are also checking the communication skills, personality, IT knowledge of the candidates.
US-based company Satmbaf also visited the campus for the first time. L D Engineering Principal M N Patel said, “75 per cent of the eligible students have already got placements. Process of recruitment is on. Most companies that visited our campus are regular recruiters.”
