Around 75 petrol pump dealers, who were attached to Reliance Industries Limited, have sent a letter to RIL seeking return of their deposit money.
Asking for a clean exit policy, almost half of the 160 members of the Gujarat Reliance Petrol Pump Dealers Association have sought return of their money and decided not to do any more business with RIL.
The association’s secretary Amreesh Choksi said, “We have 160 members in our association. Of these, 75 dealers have asked for a clean exit policy seeking the refund of their deposit. In the letter to RIL, we have also referred to our talks with Parimal Nathwani. We had told him of our decision to exit from the deal. According to the clean exit policy, our deposit has to refunded and the infrastructure built on the land should be dismantled. We have deposited Rs 20 lakh to Rs 26 lakh with RIL and we have spent more than Rs 1 crore.”
Choksi said that the members have already decided to quit, but the company officials are insisting that we continue business with them as it will be beneficial in the long run.

Past tense
On May 27, around 100 petrol pump dealers had barged into the RIL’s office at Vraj building near Parimal crossing, demanding refund of their investments.
Claiming losses worth millions of rupees over the past four years because of the company’s decision to shut many of its retail fuel outlets in view of the variation between its prices and those of government-owned companies, the dealers had refused to budge despite attempts from the police to remove them.
There are 106 Reliance petrol pumps in the state, of which only around 20 are operational. Even they are surviving on a wing and a prayer, incurring huge losses daily.
