Evaluation and assessment of final year engineering projects is all set to get to undergo a radical change at Gujarat Technological University. A new system which has already been initiated for semester 7 (4th year) will ensure that all projects are registered on the university’s website, and all developments in project, including academic inputs by students and teachers, are duly recorded. This step is likely to organise the entire process, make teacher-student communication more effective, put everything on record and make the system dynamic, said officials.
GTU VC Akshai Aggarwal said, “In the first phase, students are required to register their project team details on the site - http://projects.gtu.ac.in/ Colleges/Registration till August 10.” “Thereafter, in the second phase, students will be required to feed in their project details on the site. This phase will start from August 11 and end on August 17,” added Aggarwal. In the third phase, from August 18, the project-tracking system will go live. Students will be required to update their project status every 15 days.
The guide will look into the credibility of the content shared by the team and also suggest the team improvements and provide inputs on design and implementation. The fortnightly progress report will be accessible by both the guide and the team of students. The university, the college, the department and the guide will use this online tracking system to allocate mentors/reviewers both from industry and academia periodically to gauge the performance of each team.
