The three-day ‘Sadbhavna Mission’ saw hundreds of people thronging the venue. While a few came on their own, some others were said to be the forced visitors. And there was also a group that just dropped in to share a frame with Chief Minister Narendra Modi. But, amid all this fanfare, two nursing students, believing that the chief minister is accessible to public and pay heed to their grievances, came with the true spirit to meet their leader.
But the ignorant students after two-hour struggle to meet Modi realised that it is not aam aadmi but only khaas (special ones) who can catch up with the ‘people-friendly’ CM. Despite being turned away, the girls did not lose heart and dropped their letters, seeking financial support to carry on with their studies, in a suggestion box at the venue.

Two-hour struggle
Students of a self-financed nursing college in Ahmedabad, the two kept wandering at the spot for about two hours, in search of any means to reach out to the chief minister. “We had been watching on TV how people could meet Modi on dias. So, we thought even we could make it. All we wanted was to tell him in person our grievances,” said one of the students.
“We were told that we cannot meet the chief minister without any reference. So we must first contact our representatives (MLA or councillors) who can lead us to Modi. But we didn’t find any influential person who could help us. Maybe because of security reasons, we were not allowed. But I have put my letter in a suggestion box, hoping that our chief minister will definitely help us out,” said one of the girls.

The letter
The girl students wanted to make a written submission of their problems in person. “My father is unable to bear expenses of my study. I do get a scholarship of Rs 2,500 but it is too meagre to support my studies. I aspire to make my career in nursing and financial help from you can help me achieve my dream. I request you to help me in this hour of financial crisis,” stated the letter of the student.
