The famous Bhadrakali temple will now provide live streaming of the divine aarti on its website for devotees across the globe. The temple will be launching the site www.bhadrakalimaa.com in a fortnight. Believed to be as old as the city, the temple had a Rs 2.5-crore face lift last year.
Most Amdavadis, especially those who have been living in the city since long, prefer to begin any auspicious work with a darshan at the temple.
Thousands of people living outside the city often send in a chundli (a saree or stole for the diety) or a token in cash for Maa at Bhadra. Now, with the temple going hi-tech, devotees across the globe will be able to do online darshan. The video streaming of the live aarti on the website is expected to begin in six months.
The site will feature the daily schedule of the temple, details of various rituals, events and festivities during Janmashtami and Navratri.
It will also take the devotees on a virtual tour of the temple, feature information on its historical significance as well as on the various incarnations of goddess Bhadra, also referred to as Nagar Devi.
The temple, built by the Marathas when Aazam Khan was the king of Ahmedabad, has been renovated four times so far –1885, 1932, 1992 and 2010. The old photographs of the temple as well as those of the celebrities and leaders who have visited the place for darshan will be uploaded on the website.
Goddess Bhadrakali is worshipped for prosperity and wealth. More than a thousand people from not only the city and the state but also from other countries visit the temple every day to seek blessings of the goddess.
Since the deity is attired in a different form each day, the devotees who visit the temple on Sunday – which witnesses maximum rush – see her decked up in the same finery. However, once the live streaming of the aarti begins on the website, they will be able to see the goddess decked up to represent different incarnations each day on their computer.
The website will also enable devotees to make donations to the temple online as well place orders for prasad. The temple authorities are currently in talks with various international courier companies for the despatch of prasad packets.
Bhadra temple is governed by Shri Rambali Prag Tiwari Trust for the first six months of the year and by Maharaj Brajlal Gangaprasad Avasthi for the next six months.
Says trustee Ashutosh Tiwari, “The temple’s website www.bhadrakalimaa.com will be launched in a fortnight. However, it will take nearly six months before the live streaming of the morning and evening aarti can begin. Devotees from across the globe can watch the aarti and place orders for prasad on the site. They can also make donations online.”
