Bolstered by the success of online Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET), the state education department has decided to convert Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) into a computer-based exam by 2011 as well.
Principal Secretary of Education Hasmukh Adiya said: “We will try to conduct GUJCET online from next year. But we might not succeed in our endeavour due to some logistical reasons. However, the exam will certainly go online from 2011.”
Sources said the education department has started preliminary preparations for conducting GUJCET online.
“We are trying to establish online examination centres in every district for conducting the test without any problem. Each online exam centre will have 100 computers,” said a source.
The sources said mock tests would be conducted before GUJCET goes online to make students aware of the nitty-gritty of the computer-based exam. Question banks will also be posted online for the benefit of students, said the sources.
A source in the education department said: “Candidates will be able to write GUJCET twice after it goes online. Their best score will be taken into count while preparing the merit list.”
The source added, “Once GUJCET goes online, the examinees will get instant score cards. They will also be given a copy of their answer papers.”
