Tripada school students are all set to dance their way into the Limca Book of Records. With 2,000 children taking part in a two-and-a-half-hour dance drama, the school is vying for the record entry by being the largest dance group performing the longest non-stop dance drama. Teachers, trustees and parents, too, will be part of the drama which will be held at Shreyas Foundation on February 26.
The drama called ‘Colour My Wings’ is a children’s project from conception to execution, said Archit Bhatt, managing trustee of the school. “From make-up to songs, from preparing the background props to creating invitation cards, the students are involved in every process.
They have received guidance by Walter Peter, an ex-member of NSD TIE committee,” said Bhatt. There is nothing filmy about the songs or dance. The songs have been sung by kids and recorded at a studio set up in the school.
He added, “The students began practise on February 9. The drama is about world peace. The students will represent the 28 states of India, their culture, food, traditions, rituals and unity. All colours blend to form white, the colour of peace. Similarly, all states live in unity. The play will be as colourful and eye-catching a peacock’s feather.
This inspired the drama’s title Colour My Wings. The children have also created clay models of peacocks as invitation holders to go with the theme. Principals Jyoti Bhatt and Pratiksha Parikh are in charge of the project.” The school officials have written to Limca authorities, seeking entry into the record book. “A team from the Limca Book of Records will attend the drama to see if we have the qualifications to set a record,” Bhatt added.
